Do you offer assessments online or in person?

We are an online psychology clinic. All assessments are conducted via telehealth. In-person (face-to-face) appointments are not currently offered.

Question 2

Can psychologists prescribe medication in Australia?

Accepted Answer

Psychologists do not prescribe medication. However, following your assessment, we can provide referral options to psychiatrists; who can assess suitability for medication, along with copies of your reports to assist with your appointment. If you plan to see your own specialist GP or psychiatrist, please check with them in advance whether they will accept an external psychologist assessment report before booking.

Can I access the NDIS?

Accepted Answer

If you are seeking NDIS access, the comprehensive report and add-on support letter can form part of the supporting evidence for an NDIS application. For general psychologists, the NDIS requires a multidisciplinary approach, whereby input from another health professional (e.g., occupational therapist, general practitioner, psychiatrist) is also required. Eligibility is determined by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

Does a Medicare rebate apply for assessments?

Medicare rebates do not apply to assessments at Tay Psychology.

I’m unsure whether I need an ADHD and/or Autism assessment?

Accepted Answer

Deciding whether to pursue a formal ADHD and/or Autism assessment is often a significant decision, especially given the time, energy, and finances involved. If you’ve been considering an assessment, there is usually a good reason to do so.

Our assessments aim to provide clarity around an individual’s experiences. Whether to seek a diagnostic assessment is a personal decision, and you may wish to consider how an assessment could be helpful for you.

What if I do not meet criteria for Autism and/or ADHD?

Our assessments are thorough and we consider differential diagnoses and explore other co-occurring conditions (where relevant), alternative explanations, or whether the experiences you are having may be consistent with life stressors.If you do not meet criteria for Autism and/or ADHD, you'll still receive feedback, a comprehensive report, and recommendations.

Question 11

Can I bring a support person to my assessment?

Accepted Answer

If you feel it would be helpful to have a support person during your assessment, you’re welcome to have them attend your clinical interview and support you with your intake questionnaires.

What is your cancellation or reschedule policy for assessments?

Accepted Answer

Refunds are not available for assessment services. Please ensure this is a suitable service for you before proceeding with a booking.

Appointments can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before the scheduled assessment appointment. Cancellations are non-refundable but can be credited toward a future assessment appointment. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the assessment appointment are not permitted, and payment will not be refunded or credited.

Due to the extensive preparation and scheduling involved in assessment appointments, bookings may only be rescheduled a maximum of three (3) times. Requests to reschedule beyond this limit will result in cancellation of the assessment booking, and any payments made will be retained by the practice.
